HYDE PARK - The Dutchess County SPCA and PetSmart Charities will team up to celebrate National Adoption Weekend May 3-5, 2013. An adoption drive will be held at Petsmart in Poughkeepsie from 11am to 4pm, featuring pets from the Dutchess County SPCA.
PetSmart Charities will donate $35 to the Dutchess County SPCA for every animal adopted at the store during the adoption event. People who adopt animals will receive $35 in Adoption Awards from PetSmart Charities and a New Pet Parent Adoption Kit. Staff and volunteers from the Dutchess County SPCA will be at the store to answer questions and help prospective adopters find a new best friend.
"The successful adoption stories we hear each National Adoption Weekend prove the work PetSmart Charities is doing makes a difference in the lives of homeless pets," said Jan Wilkins, executive director, PetSmart Charities, Inc. "Through our collaboration with thousands of adoption partners across North America, we can focus on the pet homelessness issue at a local level and achieve the greatest impact."
