RIVERDALE – Mount Saint Mary College junior Joe Henain had seven blocked shots to set a new season record on Sunday, as the Knights defeated the College of Mount Saint Vincent, 65-49. The Mount improved to 16-7 overall (12-4 Skyline), while the Dolphins fell to 6-17 (4-12).
The Knights closed the opening half on a 7-2 run to take a 32-24 advantage to the locker room. With the Mount still leading comfortable in the second, Mount Saint Vincent closed to within six with an 8-0 run. A bucket from senior Shaquille Cunningham at the 8:58 mark made it 45-39.
Junior Anthony Cipriano answered, draining a triple on the next possession to spark a 10-0 run for the Knights. When junior Joe Stabach knocked down a jumper with 5:56 remaining, the Knights led, 55-39. Mount Saint Vincent would get no closer than 14 for the rest of the way.
Pisciotta led MSMC with 19 points, but it was Henain who stole the show. The junior finished with 15 points, 11 boards, and seven blocks, running his total to 58 blocks on the year, breaking the previous record of 55 set by Kenny Lane during the 2003-04 season.
