NEW HAVEN, CT – The Vassar College women’s track competed at the Yale University Springtime Invitational Sunday afternoon.
Lucy Balcezak competing in the 4x400 relay at Penn Relays Thursday wouldn’t disappoint, as she won her heat and finished fifth overall in the 800 with a personal-best time of 2:20.39, just missing the ECAC qualifying time by .39 seconds.
Molly Crowell posted her collegiate best in the 200 meters with a 26.62. Alex Gittens, a freshman, set her personal best in the 800, posting a time of 2:27.98 and the 200 meter dash, recording a 28.72.
Cassidy Carpenter won her heat in the 1500 meter run with a 5:06.47, and Emily Garber placed second in her 1500 meter heat after running a 5:21.51.
The Brewer 4x800 meter relay eked out the win by .56 seconds over Marist University, as Taylor Quinn, Maggie Sowa, Sara King and sophomore Ava Farrell ran a time of 10:00.32.
"It was a busy week, but I’m happy with a lot of the performances for us this week," said head coach James McCowan. "I know many of the members are building and putting the pieces together, but everyone is looking forward to our home meet this week."
The Brewers will host the Matthew Vassar Twilight meet on Weinberg Track in Poughkeepsie on Friday, May 2 at 5 p.m.
