ITHACA – The Vassar College women’s tennis team finished up their fall schedule at the NYS DIII Women’s Tennis Championships at Ithaca College on Sunday.
Hannah Van Demark advanced to the final match after defeating Emily Aaldenberg of RPI 6-1, 6-2. Van Demark fell to Skidmore College’s Caroline Hobbs 6-4, 6-1. Lauren Stauffer also competed in the semifinals. She lost to Skidmore’s Robyn Baird 6-2, 6-4.
"Hannah and Lauren fought hard but were beaten in competitive matches," assistant coach Mark Chase said. "The positive is that we can tell that this experience of playing at this high of a level bodes well for the upcoming spring season."
Van Demark finished the fall schedule with an overall singles record of 3-4. Stauffer finished with a record of 5-4.
"The thing that we have to look forward to the most is that we have a very young team with two seniors, one junior and seven underclassmen," said head coach Kathy Campbell.
