Marist Men’s Swimming & Diving Welcomes Five



POUGHKEEPSIE – Head Coach Larry VanWagner and the men’s swimming and diving team welcome five incoming freshmen to this season’s roster, and the Class of 2018.

Anthony Fresella – Free – Kinnelon High School/Lakeland Hills YMCA – Hometown: Kinnelon, N.J.

Fresella comes to Marist with a successful resume. He was named to the All-NJAC (New Jersey Athletic Conference) First Team, as he was a YMCA National Qualifier and State Finalist. Fresella was the Kinnelon High School Highest Point Scorer in 2014, while being on the school’s Top 10 Career High Point Scorers List. He was also a New Jersey High Schools Meet of Champions Qualifier.

Peter Gallino – Dive – Sacred Heart High School/SoCo Diving Club – Watertown, Conn.

Gallino starts his time at Marist after a stellar senior season. He was named All-NVL (Naugatuck Valley League Diving) and All-State, while taking first place in the NVL, first in states Class S, and eight place in the State Open. In his senior season, Gallino received a Leadership Award, the Athlete of the Year Award, as well as the Most Valuable Player for his tennis team. He also received the R-Jay Domondon Memorial Scholarship, Outstanding Senior J.O.P. Manherz Award, Lt. Raymond P. Donnelly Award, as well as the Jim Farrar Excellence in Swimming and Diving Award.

Sam Presgraves – Breast/Individual Medley – Tuscarora High School/SNOW Swimming Club – Hometown: Leesburg, Va.

Presgraves attended Tuscarora High School and swam on the Varsity Swim Team competitively for four years. He qualified for the finals in States for the past three years in a row, while holding four records. Academically, he was in the National Honor Society for the past two years, while holding officer positions in various clubs. Presgraves also swam for SNOW Swim Club, where he qualified for Sectionals and the NCSA Junior Nationals.

Max Vitkin – Backstroke – Farmington High School/West Hartford Aquatic – Hometown: Farmington, Conn.

Vitkin becomes a Red Fox after a successful stint in high school. He was named the captain of Farmington High School’s swim team, as he was the freshman record holder in the 100-yard backstroke. Academically, Vitkin was a four-year honor roll student as well as an AP Scholar with distinction.

Jackson Wahl – Back/Free/Individual Medley – Jesuit High School/Tualatin Hill Swim Club – Hometown: Portland, Oreg.

After being named captain at AISG, Wahl comes to Marist with a successful background. He is the AISG record holder in the 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard freestyle, and the 4x50-yard medley relay. Wahl is also the Jesuit High School record holder in the 4x100-yard freestyle relay. In 2014, he was named the Jesuit High School Most Valuable Player.
