NEW PALTZ – The State University of New York at New Paltz women’s swimming team has been named a Spring 2014 College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America team, as announced Thursday by the CSCAA. The Hawks, who also earned the award in the fall, are one of 138 NCAA Division III women’s programs to earn the honor.
The distinction, supported by Nike Swim, is accorded to college and university swimming & diving teams who have achieved a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. It is presented twice a year—once in the fall semester and again in the spring.
New Paltz finished the spring semester with a cumulative team GPA of 3.21, and the Hawks join five other State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) teams in earning the honor: The College at Brockport (3.59), SUNY Oswego (3.27), SUNY Oneonta (3.27), SUNY Geneseo (3.19) and SUNY Cortland (3.06).
New Paltz went 6-2 in dual meets in 2013-14 and placed third out of nine teams at the 2014 SUNYAC Championships.
Founded in 1922, the CSCAA is the oldest professional organization of college coaches in America.
