PATCHOGUE - The Mount Saint Mary College women’s swim team not only broke another school record at Saturday’s meet but finished the regular season in first place by beating St. Joseph’s College, 138-61. The 200 freestyle relay team made up of freshman Lauren Becerra, sophomore Meghan Seaman, senior Kassie Kayal and sophomore Danielle Rodriguez broke the old school record with a time of 1:49.65.
Becerra had another great performance this weekend winning the 1000 freestyle by more than 30 seconds in a time of 11:48.45. Becerra also claimed the first place spot in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:49.58. Rodriguez took first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.61 while Seaman finished first in the 200 freestyle in 2:08.26 and in the 100 freestyle in 59.83. Junior Alissa Keyes took first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:35.94 followed by Kayal clocking 2:37.92 and sophomore Tara Kayal in third with a time of 2:52.09. Freshman Elizabeth Stern touched second in the 100 backstroke in 1:13.62 followed by Tara Kayal in 1:19.01. Freshman Sandy Behre earned a second place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:24.31 followed by sophomore Sarah Kelleher in 1:34.03.
The Knights compete in the Skyline Conference Championship on February 1st in Purchase, NY at 5:00 p.m.
