Rochester - The Vassar College men’s swimming and diving team finished with 398 points over four days for eighth place of 12 teams at the UNYSCSA Championships at Webster Aquatic Center. Ithaca won the event with 1479 points.
"It was a great showing for the men who climbed up to eighth from last year," said Lisl Prater-Lee. "They set records four out of five relays and six in total. It was a solid meet all the way through."
The 400-yard freestyle relay of Mathue Duhaney, Luc Amodio, Nick Veazie, and Jack Smart improved on new school record with a time of 3:14.66 for eighth place.
Smart and Amodio placed in the top ten in the 200-yard breaststroke with a pair of season bests. Smart was fifth in 2:11.04 and Amodio was ninth in 2:11.59.
In the 1650-yard freestyle, Frank Driscoll took 14th in 17:10.63.
"On the ride home, the team showed great humanitarian spirit, pushing a snowed-in car out of a ditch next to the road," said assistant coach Dan Decker.
