Mount Ranked 2nd in Skyline Coaches Pre-season Poll

NEW YORK CITY - The 2013 Skyline Conference champion Mount Saint Mary College men’s soccer team ranked second in the 2014 Skyline Men’s Soccer Preseason Poll, as voted on by the Skyline Conference men’s soccer coaches.

Led by returning All-Conference First-Team student-athlete Matt Garcia and Skyline Conference Championship Most Outstanding Player Michael Ennis, the Knights received 53 total points and three first-place votes to place second in this year’s preseason poll. Purchase College, whom the Knights defeated in the Skyline Semifinals to reach the championship game in 2013, took the top spot this year with 57 points and four first-place votes.

The opening round of the six-team 2014 Skyline Men’s Soccer Championship will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, with semifinal action slated for Wednesday, Nov. 5. The title match will be played on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Purchase College in conjunction with the Skyline Fall Festival.

The Skyline also welcomes its newest member, Sarah Lawrence College, to the conference this season. Sarah Lawrence will play every member institution in 2014 but will not be eligible for Skyline and NCAA Championship participation as it completes its final year of NCAA Division III provisional membership.

5. St. Joseph’s-L.I. - 36 points
6. Mount Saint Vincent - 25 points
(tie) Old Westbury - 25 points
8. Maritime - 23 points
9. Yeshiva - 9 points
