October 31st, 2012 Vassar women fall to league rival Union in overtime, 2-1

SCHENECTADY – The Vassar College women’s soccer team finished their 2012 season with a winning record despite a 2-1 overtime loss to Liberty League opponent Union College Saturday afternoon.
In her last game as a Brewer, senior goalkeeper Ali Higgins added 12 saves to her impressive career.
The Brewers finish their season with a record of 9-7-1, 3-5 in the Liberty League.
Freshman Kamaria Coley scored her third goal of the season after freshman Lucy Brainerd took a crossing shot from the left side that hit the right post. Coley gave Vassar a 1-0 lead when she tipped the deflection into the net.
Union’s Whitney Bickford tied the game in the 77th minute off a 25 yard free kick. Union clinched the win when Jennifer Mansfield beat Higgins in a one-on-one.
Union outshot Vassar by a margin of 27-17. Union’s Kayla Marti finished the game with four saves. |
