OSWEGO – Senior forward Samantha Abravanel scored on a standing bicycle kick in the 79th minute to lift the State University of New York at New Paltz women’s soccer team (7-2-0, 1-1-0 SUNYAC) to a 1-0 victory in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) match-up with SUNY Oswego (3-4-0, 0-2-0 SUNYAC) on Saturday in Oswego.

Abravanel’s fifth goal of the season was assisted by sophomore midfielder Bryce Kristall breaking the scoreless tie. It was also Abravanel’s fourth game-winner of the year.

In her second start in goal, freshman Krysten Kane kept her slate clean as she picked up her second win and shutout of the season. Oswego’s Emily Varonier made 11 saves, but suffered the loss.

The Hawks kept the pressure on all game, firing off 18 shots to Oswego’s four, 13 of which were on net.
New Paltz returns to action on September 28th against SUNY Geneseo.
