Mount Saint Mary opens the season with two losses

GETTYSBURG, PA - The Mount Saint Mary College women’s volleyball team opened up the 2013 season with a pair of losses at the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic on Friday, August 30, 2013. The Knights dropped a five-set match to Gallaudet University and fell in straight sets to Salisbury University.

In the opener, sophomore Kaitlin O’Brien led the way with 15 kills and 15 digs. Freshman Kristen Maddock tallied 31 assists, while sophomore Jen Gries and junior Brianna Johnston tied for a team-high with 18 digs each.

Kurka led the Knights in the match against Salisbury with six kills on 14 attempts. Gries and O’Brien tied for the team-high with 11 digs each, while Maddock recorded 16 assists.
