LEXINGTON, KY - The State University of New York at New Paltz women’s volleyball team was one of 533 volleyball programs to earn the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2011 season, as announced Friday by the AVCA. A total of 90 NCAA Division III women’s volleyball teams were accorded with the distinction.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
New Paltz’s women’s volleyball team boasts a cumulative grade-point average of 3.34. The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) had two other honorees, as SUNY Fredonia and SUNY Potsdam also made the list.
The SUNY New Paltz Hawks open up their 2012 season on Friday, August 31st, as they travel down to Manhattan for the NYU Labor Day Invite. Their first match of the day will be at 1:30 p.m. against host New York University. |
