NFA Photography Club Helps Local Shelters

Newburgh Free Academy students (L to R) Amanda Perez, Jacqueline Doogan, Ceceilia Santo, Rebecca Levinstein, and Emma Hoarty.

NEWBURGH - Recently, Newburgh Free Academy Photography Club students worked on a community service project to help local animals. The exhibit featured photographs of cats and dogs available for adoption at the Town of Newburgh Animal Shelter. The prints were available for purchase, mounted and ready for framing. In total, the students raised $230 in donations for the shelter.

As part of the gallery event, students also collected food and pet items, old blankets and cleaning supplies. In addition, students filled boxes with old shoes as part of the shelter’s ongoing shoe program. The shelter receives .99 per pound for old shoes.

Following the gallery exhibit and collection drive, shoes and donated pet items were delivered to the shelter.
