Poughkeepsie -
On Tuesday evening, the Dutchess County Democratic Committee crowded the Polish Club in the City of Poughkeepsie and unanimously endorsed Anne Rubin for the 103rd Assembly. The motion was made by Dan French and seconded by Vicky Perry.
Dan French, Town Councilman from Beekman and treasurer of the Dutchess County Democrats, said, "Anne Rubin has proven herself to be a very exciting and hardworking candidate. She truly cares about her community, and has a vision for the Hudson Valley which will bring prosperity to all of our residents, not just a few special interests."
Dutchess County represents approximately 70% of the population of the district, including the towns of Red Hook, Milan, Pine Plains, North East, Amenia, Dover, Washington, Stanford, Union Vale, Beekman, Pleasant Valley, and East Fishkill.
Accepting the endorsement, Anne said, "It is clear that we need to revitalize our regional economy, by supporting the local businesses and farms that are already here, and that form the heart of our communities. The first step is to enact meaningful tax reform, that is based on our ability to pay. The current property tax system is broken, and is a deterrent to potential businesses."
She added, "The renewable energy industries of the future have the potential to create well-paying, long-lasting jobs throughout our region, and I will make sure that we get the state level support to make this a practical reality."
Since entering the race in July, Anne Rubin has also been endorsed by the Red Hook Democrats, Hudson City Democrats, East Fishkill Democrats, and Columbia County Democratic Committee.
