U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand recently announced $2,436,958 in federal funding for the Orange County Airport for construction of a new runway. The funding is allocated through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program.
"This Department of Transportation grant will ensure that the Orange County Airport can continue to safely serve residents, businesses and visitors to region for years to come," said Schumer. "Maintaining safety on the runway and around the airport is essential for the success of the airport and economic growth in the Hudson Valley."
"Investments like this in our transportation infrastructure are some of the fastest, most effective ways to strengthen our economy," said Gillibrand. "Adding a new runway can help provide better, safer service for travelers and business, keep more flights on the move through the Hudson Valley, and help strengthen the local economy."
