Cahill talks jobs with chamber of commerce

POUGHKEEPSIE – Assemblymember Kevin A. Cahill (D- Ulster, Dutchess) attended a round table breakfast with the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce this morning in Poughkeepsie to discuss the area’s most pressing business concerns. On the agenda were issues such as IBM’s potential departure from its East Fishkill facility, unfunded mandates on municipalities, and the Assemblyman’s newly introduced Grid Modernization Act. Also in attendance were Assemblymembers Didi Barrett and Kieran Lalor and Senator Terry Gipson.

"Cultivating and maintaining a positive relationship with the business community in Dutchess County is one of my top priorities. When local firms and small business owners are included in the legislative process the best outcomes are reached for owners themselves, their employees and the overall economic health of the Hudson Valley," Assemblyman Cahill said. "I deeply value the insights and unique perspective the members of the Chamber of Commerce can provide on the needs of our local businesses."

"The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce periodically schedules events where our members can meet face to face with their elected representatives on the issues affect their businesses most. I am pleased that Assemblymember Cahill, along with the other state representatives who attended our meeting today, were willing to take the time out of their busy schedules to continue cultivating our ongoing dialogue," said Charlie North, the Chamber’s President and CEO. "The Chamber of Commerce works closely with all members of the regional delegation including Assemblymember Cahill, and we know we can always count on their attention to both legislative matters and issues with state agencies. I look forward to our relationship continuing to strengthen in the future."
