NEWBURGH – Gray skies opened to a sunny and successful day, as excited golfers and community business partners tee’d off to support our kids at the 5th Annual "Fore" the Kids" Golf Classic at West Point Golf Course, raising over $42,000 to support Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mentoring programs!
There were smiles all around, as 145 golfers enjoyed a great day on the course.. Great food from West Point, beverages donated by Dana Distributors, Lobo Distributing, and Texas Roadhouse, and great snacks throughout the course thanks to Shop Rite Warwick were enjoyed by all. The day was topped off with an array of excellent raffle prizes from various generous donors throughout the county. First place was won by Big Brother Doug Brown’s team from Awning FX
Big Brothers Big Sisters is very grateful for the extreme generosity shown by the community, as well as the leadership of Board Member Wayne Martin; a five-year chair of the event. "We have been doing this for the last five years", said Chairman Wayne Martin, "because Big Brothers Big Sisters has been cut by every one of our funding agencies, and we know we have to step up and find other sources of revenue to keep the great work moving forward. It really is ‘Fore’ the Kids!"
This event was held at the West Point golf course, marking the agency’s 35th year of partnership engaging West Point military cadets as mentors to youth to instill goals and shape futures.
