Parade to celebrate unity among cultures

NEWBURGH - The African American & Multicultural Unity Day Celebration Committee proudly presents the 5th Annual African American Parade & Multicultural Unity Day Celebration, to be held on August 17, 2013 in the City of Newburgh.

The parade will line up at 11:00 a.m. via Monument Street to line up on Bay View Terrace. Marching will begin at noon at South Junior High School on Monument Street. The Unity Day Celebration will commence at 2 p.m. at the Mayor Audrey L. Carey Park on Liberty Street.

This day was created to celebrate the diversity of our community. On this day we give honor not to ourselves but to those who have walked before us, and we do this in unity. This event encompasses the rich culture and diversity of all the races, creeds, and genders that make up the world we live. This is a grassroots movement that requires all of our community to make this event a success. We are currently seeking donations, performers, vendors, and marchers. All marching bands are welcome and needed.

For more information, please contact the Event Chair Ms. Natasha Cotton at (845)-674-4669 or Ms. Alma Garrick at (845)-562-0437.
