TEAM Newburgh hosts trip to Washington Lake

The children are taught how to use their fishing equipment, as well as the proper safety precautions.

NEWBURGH - TEAM Newburgh, along with its partner volunteers, hosted its fifth annual fishing trip to Washington Lake recently. This year youth from the City of Newburgh Recreation Camp, Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh Camp and the Center for Hope participated in the three hour event, designed to educate the youth about the environment.

Once again, members of the Dept of Environmental Conservation Fisheries Division provided all the necessary fishing equipment for the event. They also gave the youth an opportunity to learn a new skill while exploring one of the areas local resources - Washington Lake.

More than 160 youth enjoyed this opportunity under the supervision of staff from TEAM Newburgh partners, volunteers and camp counselors. The youth were also treated to a free lunch, thanks to a mini-grant from the Orange County Partners for Children, Youth and Families Initiative.
