City of Newburgh welcomes four new officers to the force

Lt. Thomas Murphy, Timothy Gliedman, Carlos Canario, and Michael Woodard are joined by City Manager Richard F. Herbek.

NEWBURGH - The City of Newburgh has four new police officers. They are Carlos Canario, Michael Woodard, Timothy Gliedman, and Yovanny Rodriguez.

Canario, Woodard and Gliedman began Police Academy on March 25th. Rodriguez has already been through the academy and is on the job. He and Canario were recruited from the Spanish-speaking police officer exam list.

Police Chief Michael Ferrara said, "I am proud to welcome and introduce our new officers. The residents of the City of Newburgh deserve the best of the best when it comes to officers patrolling our city streets. The professionalism in the police department begins in the hiring stage. The recruitment and retention of officers is one of our biggest challenges. It is a 20-25 year investment that cannot be taken lightly."

City Manager Richard F. Herbek said, "We are looking forward to having all these new police officers on the street, and we commend them for their willingness to serve."
