HIGHLAND FALLS - The Local Harriet Tubman Historical Society and The Hudson Valley Women’s Association and Friends participated in President Obama’s National Day of Service on January 19, 2013. This special day is a chance to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by helping others.
Clothing and canned goods were collected for the Vietnam Veterans of America and local families by the Newburgh-Highland Falls NAACP members. Health screenings for glucose, stress and hypertension were provided by Town of Highland Councilwoman Holly Gokey and refreshments were provided by members of the local American Legion Auxiliary #633. |
