Poughkeepsie Updates Residents on Storm

POUGHKEEPSIE - Status updates on the weather can be obtained from the Dutchess County website ( and information regarding two shelters, transportation to the shelters, and other storm related issues in Dutchess County will be available by calling 211.

People who reside in areas affected by past hurricanes and tropical storms have the potential of being at risk of flooding during this storm.

Latest weather models show the storm will bring damaging winds and rain to the area today and tomorrow.  Residents should be prepared for possible flooding, power outages, and other storm-related damages.  The City of Poughkeepsie will be utilizing extra staff to deal with storm issues and are asking residents to refrain from placing leaves on curbs and to clean all storm drains located near your property of leaves and debris in an effort to alleviate flooding.

Please ensure that you secure all lawn furniture, equipment, etc. that could become airborne during the storm.  Should you experience flooding or have any other storm-related matters, please call 845-485-3330.  Only life-threatening emergencies shall be placed through 911.
