The Fourth Annual Mid-Hudson Walk for ALS will take place on Sunday, Oct. 21. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m.;
walk begins at 11 a.m.
The walk will take place at Walkway Over the Hudson, starting from the Highland
side. Shuttle buses available from the Hannaford’s shopping center on Route 9W south
of the Mid-Hudson Bridge.
More than 1,000 participants are expected to cross the
Walkway to support those afflicted with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)
commonly called Lou Gehrig’s Disease, which affects nerve cells in the brain
and spinal cord. There is no known cure.
Money from the walk will be used for research and for a local
support group, equipment and other services for those suffering from ALS and
their families.
Breakfast and lunch will be served, the Marist College
cheerleaders will be on hand, and Marist women’s basketball coach Brian Giorgis
will sign autographs.
