Woodstock - The “Grandmaster of Funk” came to town recently to play a show at the Bearsville Theater with the 420 Funk Mob.
The band is made up of local musicians and members of Parliament Funkadelic. This show featured a very special guest: Parliament Funkadelic leader and founder George Clinton, who was sporting a new look.
During the show it was announced from stage that Clinton would be testifying before a congressional hearing in Washington, D.C. on copyright laws the following day. On his way down to Washington, he decided to stop and perform with his friends. The show was packed despite there being only two days notice.
The audience was treated to overtwo hours of almost non-stop funk and soul. The performers had practically everyone in the place up on their feet and dancing throughout the whole concert.
George Clinton first hit the national scene in the 1960’s as a member of the Parliaments on their hit “ I Just Wanna Testify.” |
