Newburgh - Acting City Manager Richard Herbek has announced the appointment of Fernando Gonzalez as City of Newburgh Assessor.
Mr. Gonzalez attended Pace University where he majored in Business Administration. He is a Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser with a background in Real Estate sales. He is a member of several professional associations, including the Appraisal Institute (associate), the Westchester County Society of Real Estate Appraiser and the Rockland County Board of Realtors.
As a self-employed entrepreneur, Mr. Gonzalez owned and operated Appraisal Approaches and was President of Professional Aircraft Interiors Corporation at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey.
His biggest challenge as City of Newburgh Assessor, said Mr. Gonzalez, is "to establish equitable and transparent assessments with all the properties uniformly assessed at full market value at their highest and best use."
Mr. Gonzalez said he wanted to come to the City of Newburgh because "it is uniquely positioned for economic development and growth. I look forward to working with the employees and elected officials to help the City realize its potential, while preserving its character and protecting its unique resources, including its architectural treasures."
Acting City Manager Richard Herbek commented, "Mr. Gonzalez comes to the City of Newburgh with an extensive background in property appraisal and real estate. In addition, he brings strong supervisory and management skills gained from his experience as a business owner. I am pleased to welcome him to our staff."
