Burroughs is named Orange County Historian of the Year

Village of Monroe Historian Linda-Ann Nozell Burroughs was recently named the 2012 Orange County Historian of the Year.
GOSHEN - Orange County Executive Edward A. Diana and County Historian Cornelia W. Bush are pleased to recognize Village of Monroe Historian Linda-Ann Nozell Burroughs as the 2012 Orange County Historian of the Year. Burroughs’ name was announced by Historian Bush at a recognition luncheon hosted by the Historian’s office at Thomas Bull Memorial Park.

“Our local historians preserve and share our history, adding to the quality of life for all Orange County residents and visitors. It’s a pleasure to join Historian Bush in recognizing their efforts each and every day,” said County Executive Diana. “Congratulations to Ms. Burroughs on being named Orange County Historian of the Year.”

“It’s an honor and a privilege to recognize our colleagues,” Historian Bush said. “So many of you donate countless hours in service to the residents of Orange County; this recognition program begins a new tradition of acknowledging that commitment and your results.”

Burroughs works to preserve the historic Smith house on Stage Road, a building on the New York State and National Registers of Historic Places, which houses her office and archives.

Linda served as Regent of the Minisink Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and as President of the Floris Willemse Krom Chapter of the National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century. Linda has been active in cemetery preservation.
